At the pavilion, before the gardening happened, all students ate pizza, cookies and drank water to fuel their bodies in anticipation of the service opportunity . The students then cleaned up their mess and walked over to the garden. Mr. Scott Smith described multiple service projects and students divided into groups. Students were given hoes, shovels, and pitchforks to dig and move dirt. Others moved old concrete foundation from an old horse barn to create a path. Another group built flower beds out of wooden planks. Last but not least there was a single water boy for the plants. Once the beds were built, flowers were planted to create the American flag. Everyone had a fun time while participating in serving the community.
